The opportunity for transportation in Greenland are the lifeblood of our entire society and the cohesion between cities and settlements, which are spread over thousands of kilometers. In Greenland, no cities or settlements are connected by road. Therefore, the infrastructure in Greenland is a complex network of planes, helicopters, ship and boats between cities and settlements. The only exception is between the sheep farms in South Greenland and an ongoing construction project with an ATV track between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq.<\/p>

This also means that traveling in Greenland can be slightly challenging and requires a good knowledge of how to best get around and combine the various options to get the most out of your visit to Greenland.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In Greenland, we have decided to expand the infrastructure with three new airports, which will hopefully improve the current infrastructure. The expansion consists of two new international airports in Nuuk, Capital Region and Ilulissat, North Greenland, as well as a regional airport in Qaqortoq, South Greenland.

This means that in the future you will fly directly to Nuuk and Ilulissat instead of Kangerlussuaq, where 80-90% of all travelers to Greenland are currently distributed from.
According to the plan, the airport in Nuuk will welcome the first planes from the autumn of 2024. The airport in Ilulissat and the regional airport in Qaqortoq are both expected to be put into use in the autumn of 2025.
