Sustainable tourism

“Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and host communities”

Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth:

By supporting Greenlandic-based tour operators and businesses, we hope to have a positive effect on unemployment among young people in Greenland, which is extremely high today. With increased growth in tourism, we strive to support education among young people and increase employment opportunities.

Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities:

For Taavani, it is crucial that income streams from tourism and travel to, from and within Greenland are kept in Greenland in order to develop local tourism in our country. For us, it is important that the local communities benefit from the future growth in tourism in order for the local communities to develop.

Goal 13 - Climate action:

As in many small island developing countries (SIDS), we in Greenland depend on air connections to increase tourism. Nevertheless, we will drive the agenda towards bringing emissions down and, where possible, choose airlines that drive the agenda to reduce their CO2 emissions with investment in a modern fleet. In addition, we will guide our travelers in how they should act and behave in accordance with climate action when they travel.
